Overview
The
threat of emerging infections and the burden of chronic
disease on our nation's communities have dramatically
increased the need for high quality and well-organized
population based services. Pressure from governmental
and private funders to demonstrate accountability and
quality of public health services is also a fact of
life. A performance measurement system will provide
information to advocate for public health at state
and local levels, shape policy decisions, support accountability,
improve quality, and target resources to ultimately
improve the health of the public. After all, what gets
measured gets done. Join us as we discuss the concepts
of the National Public Health Performance Standards
Program and the goal that we all strive for, healthy
people in healthy communities.
