Health Informatics Competencies
National
Library of Medicine (NLM) - Part of the National
Institutes of Health (NIH) of the U.S. Department of Health
and Human Services (DHHS), NLM is the world's largest medical
library. The Library collects materials in all areas of
biomedicine and health care, as well as works on biomedical
aspects of technology, the humanities, and the physical,
life, and social sciences.
National
Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM) - Provides funding,
training and research support to health professionals throughout
the U. S. The Program is coordinated by the National Library of
Medicine and carried out through a nationwide network of health
science libraries and information centers.
PubMed
- Provides access to MEDLINE citations back to the mid-1960's and
additional life science journals. PubMed includes links to many
sites providing full text articles and other related resources.
MEDLINEplus
- Provides extensive full text health information for consumers
and health professionals on over 500 diseases and health conditions.
MEDLINE also provides interactive health tutorials and is produced
in a Spanish version.
TOXNET
- A cluster of databases on toxicology, hazardous chemicals, and
related areas.
NIHSeniorHealth
- This website for older adults was developed by the National Institute
on Aging and the National Library of Medicine, both part of the
National Institutes of Health.
Health Services/Technology
Assessment Text (HSTAT) - A searchable collection
of large, full-text clinical and community practice
guidelines.
Healthy People
2010 Information Access Project - The purpose of this site is
to make information and evidence-based strategies related to the
Healthy People 2010 objectives easier to find. The National Library
of Medicine, the Public Health Foundation, and several NIH and DHHS
offices have worked together to develop pre-formulated search strategies
for selected Healthy People 2010 focus areas.
